The tournament continues, and things continue to get weirder.

This chapter we see a lot of glimpses of battle that happened. As Saturnyne puts it “the contests continue with the speed of a deadly shuffle of cards.” I struggled with this tournament because it’s not what I thought was being advertised to us. What we have gotten is like that children’s birthday party where your mom planned a bunch of wacky mini games for you all to play. Is that bad? No it comes down to expectations. Now that I’m working to push my prior expectations away, I’m enjoying this event so much more.

There are so many silly moments that fit right into the tone of ‘Dawn of X’ and this new world for the mutants that we are getting. Magik misspelling magic, Cypher at the disco, Wolverine in a fashion runway, are just some of the short but outstanding moments in this chapter.

We do get a glimpse behind the curtain as well. There certainly is something larger at work, and I hope we get to find out more soon. Saturnyne has this obsession with Captain Avalon, which makes me wonder how much this obsession is fueling the tournament, or will it have some sort of impact on the outcome.

Overall this chapter provides some hilarious moments and some insight of possible things to come. This is not the event we expected, but it has still been an exciting ride.
