This chapter we get some history, and Apocalypse sets out to retrieve his sword from the prophecy.

This issue offered more of an in-depth look into who the assailants are. Some history of how Apocalypse was separated from them and also how he was set on his charge to judge the mutants, challenge them, until only the fittest remain.

At first glance I wondered where this story was going. Was it just offering up some unnecessary filler history or was what we were getting actually important? It turned out to be a little bit of both but the revelation of how all of this comes full circle, even back to Apocalypse first appearance in 'X-Factor' issue 5, really made up for any short comings.

Overall this was a pretty good chapter. It gave us some more background while getting another sword bearer ready for the tournament. It was not a standout like other chapters were, but still a solid chapter none the less.
