I know what you're thinking. You don't have to say it. The title sounds really freaking corny. And I was in total agreement until I started reading it. What a treasure it was to see what the title referred to and what it all meant to the overlying theme. In fact, I'm not going to give any of it away. The cover is extremely misleading though. You will think this comic has a hero/villain dichotomy, but you'll be wrong. OK! I'll give one thing away: This comic has more to do with "external agents" than internal ones....though internal is most of what you're going to get.

Grant Morrison is a king of kings in comic book writing. He's literal deity. There once came upon men the Gods of comics: Alan Moore, Frank Miller, Neil Gaiman...and along side them appeared Grant Morrison. He takes everything you think about the universe and science fiction and turns it on your head. Plus, since this comic is about writing in some form or another, Morrison is able to mold the story into his own personal memoir to an extent. The dialogue is tight and the narrative is just the right amount of give and take. It is a literary love affair in comic form.

I'd never seen any of Irving's art before this release. Great artist though. Whether he was drawing space or Hollywood, it came alive on the page. But the great thing was that it didn't distract from the overall story. It was equal parts talented and methodized. You could see Irving's use of color was a bit spotty sometimes.......and I honestly feel like some of the scene could have benefited from being in black and white...but what we got was stellar and I'm happy that he's working with Morrison.

Final thought: I know that his whole review is very mysterious.....well, so is the comic. Buy it now.
