Flashpoint (HC)

Barry Allen aka The Flash has a great life, a loving wife, protector of Central City & a proud member of The Justice League. One day he wakes and the world as he knows it has changed dramatically. His mother is alive & well, he’s no longer married, his powers are gone, no one’s ever heard of Superman & Aquaman & Wonder Woman are at each other’s throats in a bitter war that has cost the lives of millions. With time running out, Barry must fix history but he’ll need the help of the one man he can trust… The Batman. But is he the same man Barry remembers?

We’ve seen this story before, a character changes something from the past and causes ripples and changes the present & the future. The protagonist knows the truth, but everyone around him is completely oblivious. Having said that, it’s still a decent enough book as a typical DC universe epic event with plenty of action, cool new costumes, unusual alliances & some great looking illustrations from Andy Kubert. Also, the mysterious red-hooded woman we now know as Pandora makes her appearance.

This is the type of story that fits writer Geoff Johns like a glove. It’s not an original idea by any stretch of the imagination, but it’s a great looking book that’s a lot of fun. Originally published as Flashpoint #1-#5. From DC Comics.
