Danny’s in a bit of a bind, and he’s havin’ to think fast and act faster. Picking up from last issue, having just fallen under the attack of a mercenary army as well as some sort of zombie undead freakazoid, Rand receives a dying messenger who hails him with a singular message: K’un L’un needs him.

This is a nice bit of a jumpstart as we see Danny spring into action to return to the Heavenly city, somewhat snapping back to the former Danny that many know and love. We also get a bit of exposure to his past in this issue, seeing the accident and selfish motives that set into motion those machination that would bring about Danny’s transformation, and eternalize him as the man whose fists are like a thing unto iron.

In any case, we also get glimpses of K’un L’un in this issue, but only for the most part to see it in the midst of celebrating the rebirth of its mascot and guardian Shou Lao the Undying – the dragon who makes Iron Fists. But the festivities are cut short by the arrival of a hostile presence, as well as the betrayal of a character we thought redeemed (those who read the Fraction run won’t be surprised).

Kaare’s artwork and pacing become a bit more stabilized in this issue, and help to further restore Danny to his former glory and persona as Iron Fist. In short: this issue acts as a wakeup call for Danny Rand, as well as a call to action.
