Sometimes I can say I think I know where the plot of a story is going and be completely right. It just seems so obvious. Futures End is not one of those times. This book continues to twist and turn, snake-like with each curve being a new part to the mystery. The stories are moving forward at just the right pace, not getting bogged down by the enormity of the story. I’m also enjoying now, that that the separate plot threads seemingly have nothing to do with each other. It’s going to be glorious seeing them all come together.

I’m tempted to start ranking the story sections in terms of my favorites just because it’d be a more efficient way to talk about this on a weekly series. It gets to be redundant saying the same things over and over again about certain sections (cough Firestorm cough).

New artists joined Futures End this week, and they’re good! I like the style, once again in a way that works with Patrick Zircher and Aaron Lopresti. It’s a riff on the DC house style. It has a more cartoonish vibe with thick lines. It really works, especially because of the amount of humor in this issue.

Futures End is slowly pulling away from the station. As the story progresses it will be harder and harder to jump on. So if you’re still on the fence about whether or not to read along let me help you make that decision: do it. Grab the rest of the issues and catch up. This is going to be the blockbuster hit of the summer. You can bet on that.
