Bloodshot Reborn #16

Written by: Jeff Lemaire

Art by: Mico Suayan

This is the third issue of the Bloodshot Island story line. In this issue we are with Bloodshot and Bloodhound as they try to break into a strange structure on the island, which might help them escape their imminent deaths at the hand's of the robot/cyborg/maybe Bloodshot??? who is being controlled and tested by Project Raising Spirit and was revealed in the last issue to be the dead Geomancer Kay McHenry!!!

We are in the middle of a really good story. The twist with Kay potentially being brought back to life is really intriguing, and it also shows how far in advanced Jeff Lemaire has Bloodshot planned. It's hard to pick my favourite Valiant series but honestly this one might be my favourite. The action is great, but it's the emotional toll that all of this is having on Bloodshot that is making this a great story. I love Bloodhound, that this dog has been trying to tell the other Bloodshots who are stuck on the island with him and they aren't getting it is a good little plot point. I wonder if Bloodhound will continue on, but either way it reminds me of my favourite single issue from last year, the Fall of Bloodshot(go read the last page). Jeff Lemaire is really crafting an epic run here with Bloodshot Reborn. In the 90s I found Bloodshot to be a bit of a boring action book, but this version has so much depth, the main character isn't perfect, he is far from it. It's just brilliantly written.

This is a beautiful book. Every page is perfect. We are so lucky that we have been given the privilege to read a book with such great art. Every panel conveys emotion, action and every one of them could live on its on as a piece of art. I hope I am getting across how much I loved the art. The detail in every panel is amazing. If nothing else Mico Suayan's art is worth the price of purchasing this book.

This book is such a compelling read, and every week when it is on the shelf it's a great week. I look forward to it every month and I can't wait to see where we are heading. Not to spoil my star rating but this would be 10 based entirely on the art. It would also be a 10 based on the writing. I wish I could give the book an 11. Please buy this book!
