Mind MGMT is a very hard book to review simply because of its brilliance. Anything that I could possibly write to describe this book would pale in comparison to the prose that Matt Kindt is able to produce. Its books like Mind MGMT that both humble and inspire those that read it. There is no other book out there like Mind MGMT and until Matt Kindt makes a follow up, there never will be. Perfection has been achieved.

Mind MGMT #12 is the final part to ‘the Futurist’ arc, and if you haven’t been following the story you absolutely must pick up the trades. This is an intricately woven tapestry of twists and turns, which means, if you miss one page, you miss the whole lot. For those who have been following the story, I will keep this review spoiler free in case you haven’t read it. But let’s be honest, you just want to know if Matt Kindt has nailed the ending and, as you might have expected, yes he did.

In terms of storytelling, what Kindt has accomplished has elevated comics to new heights. His mastery of the medium is a marvel to behold. Glances and nods between characters that one would miss upon first glance help form the back bone of mystery that benefits from those whose truly delve into Kindt’s work. Every note scribbled to the side, all the endless, seemingly incoherent ramblings of thoughts that are strewn together, in the end, tell a story that needs to be told. This is a solid conslusion that leaves the reader extremely satified, yet hungry for more.

A lot of praise has been shed upon Matt Kindt and rightfully so, but let’s also take a moment to thank Dark Horse for taking a chance on this book. In this day of internet memes and ADHD, something so deep and thought provoking would never be produced if the publisher didn’t have full faith in their artist. While Mind MGMT may not be blowing up the charts, Dark Horse has published something far more important than any quarterly report some accountant could muster. This is art in its truest form.

Mind MGMT #12 is a perfect read. Wait, scratch that, Mind MGMT is a perfect read. So what are you waiting for?
