B.P.R.D.: Vampire #4 (of 5)

by Sean Tonelli on June 26, 2013

BPRD Vampire
While B.P.R.D.: Vampire may have started out a little slow, it has certainly picked up its pace. Not only is #4 an action packed, thrill ride but the issue elevates the series star, Agent Anders, to new heights. We can now add Agent Anders to the incredible list of complex characters in the B.P.R.D. universe.

*SPOILERS*

If you are reading this review then I assume you either have this issue or are on the fence about finishing the series. If you are on the fence, get your ass down from there and head to your local comic shop. Things just got real and you need to be a part of this phenom.  After finding out that Anders is a vampire in the last issue, that twist ending shoves us face first into issue #4. Anders, surrounded by an army of witches has no choice but to take them all on himself. As the witches boil and bubble, trying to instil fear into Anders, all he can do is warn them to leave, before it’s too late. What follows is a climax that’s so viscerally cool you can’t help but turn the pages faster and faster, just trying to keep up.

Ba, Moon and Stewart carry the bulk of the work with this action packed issue and just like the prior issues, they are in perfect form. From the excellent panelling, to the thrilling character design right down to the subtle colouring of Anders’ wound, it’s a shame that this book will probably fall to the wayside a bit due the sheer amount of excellent books coming out this week.

B.P.R.D.: Vampire #4 is a fantastic penultimate issue in an already excellent series. This is what happens when you have a creative team that is working in perfect harmony. If you missed the first 3 issues, do yourself a favour and pre-order the trade. This is Mignloa and crew at their finest.
