Live has been a roller coaster for Aquaman and Atlantis. Black Manta took over the secret terrorist organization N.E.M.O. and used them to start a war between Atlantis and America. There have been so many casualties on both sides and many cities left in shambles.

This issue we see the finale as Aquaman locates Black Manta and it is a final battle to see who will come out on top.

I really enjoyed how Dan Abnett set this issue up. Many final issues to a big story arc we get a big battle and then a lot of aftermath. Or we get the hero racing to reach the villain and then there is a battle lasting a few pages and it's over. With this issue Abnett has most of the issue the battle between Aquaman and Black Manta. They are just really laying into each other fighting to the death. Ten pages of nonstop action with an explosive end. What made this battle stand out for me was Aquamans commentary laid over top of the battle. It really gives us a bit of history of the two characters but then seamlessly transitions to the aftermath where Aquamans commentary is actually a speech.

This was one of the best final issues to a big story arc I've read in a long time. Many times they can feel anticlimactic, but that is not the case here. This was the perfect ending to this arc and gets me excited for whats to come.

It's not easy to have so many pages of action and keep it fresh and engaging but Philippe Briones managed to do just that. How he laid out each panel and kept the pacing at the perfect speed just blows me away.

The Deluge is probably one of my all time favorite Aquaman stories. I highly recommend you go and pick them all up and check it out. you wont be disappointed at all.
