We now have another Avengers book. Roberto De Costa has bought A.I.M and rid it of all the evil scientists and now set it up to be Avengers Idea Mechanics.

This book was different. It was set up like a PSA with all the members being interviewed while showing them on a mission to stop the Empire. While the concept is interesting and fun but unfortunately the rest of the problems I had with this issue over shadowed it.

One of the problems I had was there is nothing new here. Everything seems like it was a copy or rip off of something else. The Empire seems like a Star Wars ripoff but a weird low rent version. Also we have many new characters but they are just new versions of older characters. There is a new female Iron Patriot, another new Captain America but female, and even Enigma is just a new character with Kitty Pryde's powers. I would much rather have seen new characters that were just that new. Please stop making copies of current characters but female versions. This just screams lack of originality. It was great to see Red Hulk but even he didn't quite feel like himself and I'm wondering what happened to him. He can only be Red Hulk for an hour a day now? That seems really odd to me.

The only thing that really stood out in this book was Pac Medina's art. Each page was beautiful and I loved how he mixed the action and interviews together.

This new Avengers book is off to a pretty rocky start. Maybe it will get better but there was just so much I wasn't able to buy into. I would suggest passing on this as there are way more great new books coming out.
