New Mutants #12 Review

The New Mutants have been working so hard to protect young mutants. Though there is a website that posts mutants whereabouts, ending up with many of those mutants being hurt or worse. It's time for the New Mutants to deal with DOX.

I have to say I was actually surprised with this issue. I was worried it was going to be more of the same as the last few issues. But this one was really good. We got an engaging story that was more than just action and a bit of comedy. There was a lot of heart as well. The conversation Glob and Magik have really touched me. It mirrors what actually happens in the real world. How hate breeds more hate. We teach our children our beliefs and sometimes those beliefs are wrong. The cycle needs to be broken yet not everyone is strong enough to do just that. Glob managed to be that strong, and it got me to care about him more than I used to.

If it wasn't for that heart to heart at the end, I don't think this issue would have been nearly as good as it ended up being. There is a secondary storyline that really fell flat. It really served no purpose other than to set up future issues. If it had been omitted I don't think you would have missed it. The gem is the main story and the lessons learned from it.

Overall this was an enjoyable read with a great message. Definitely one of Ed Brisson's better issues in this series.
