Good, good, good stuff here once again. You'd think for a comic based on 60s TV/Film that the plot would be bland, but this comic continues to impress me with its twists and turns. This issue picks up with Kirk and Taylor brushing up on their Klingon history so they can go down to the planet and take care of business. With the help of Spock and the good apes, they uncover a pretty crazy plan that harkened back to the beginnings of the ape takeover, or for me Rise/Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. I dug it a lot and it kept me on my toes for the duration.

The impressive writing of the Tiptons should not go unnoticed in the comic book world. The dialogue is so genuine that you feel like these two might have written for both franchises at one time or another. Beyond that, the plot is just becoming so masterful with each passing issue. Special attention is paid to each character and you feel like everyone gets their fair share of page time. Since Leonard Nimoy passed away recently, I was hoping for more Spock and even though I know that the comic was finished before his death, I feel like he got his due in this issue. Plus he was on one of the covers, which was cool. Just stellar writing from these guys.

Stott delivers some more amazing art. Which has become commonplace in this series because of the attention to detail. All the characters are drawn to the specs of their TV/Film counterpart and the faces are super expressive, even if they weren't very much in their origin (like Shatner). Another thing I love is the detail on everything that surrounds the characters, all the trees and the structures and the inside of the ships, it's all very elaborate and all beautifully drawn. I'd say that this art is some of IDW and Boom's best and i can't wait to see more.

Lovely issue. NEED MORE! Pick this up!
