Batman: Arkham Knight #1

This comic begins right as Arkham City ends.SPOILER ALERT: The Joker is dead. Batman give Gordon his once over and a small summary of the situation, which equates to a "see ya later" in classic Batman fashion. Then he meets up with The Electrocutioner and makes quick work of him of course, he's Batman. Then...then we get to the crux of the whole affair...The Arkham Knight himself. He is one bad mother and I can already see where Batman is going to have a problem...and also why the ESRP rating is M for Mature and not the regular Teen rating. Lots of violence is up ahead.

Tomasi's writing cascades seamlessly through from the Arkham City ending. The dialogue is all there, the characters are all fleshed out (and I'd certainly hope so since this is a continuation of an already extremely fleshed out franchise). He does a good job with Batman's lines and the lines of the Rouges as well. I especially liked the introduction of The Arkham Knight and his speech while he "did the deed" as it were. Then of course the epic Joker stuff near the end.

The art team does an alright job, but it's not the GREATEST thing I've seen from DC. That Jim Lee comic (Mastermen #1) might have spoiled me a little bit. But I digress. The art was good and again everything seems in its proper position. Joker looks a tad weird though in some panels and maybe that was the point since he's dead and all. Batman looks pretty good, but the whole atmosphere of Gotham hasn't shone through yet for me. Hopefully in the upcoming issues it will. But for what it is, it's good.

Pretty good issue. Definitely excited for this series and the game! READ IT!!
