This is the last issue in the Sleepy Hollow series (for now) by Boom and I'm actually kinda bummed that it's over. When I first started reading this a few months ago, I had no idea what the backstory was because I hadn't watched the show on FOX but I still dug the overall tone of the whole thing. Both Bennett and Coelho have done amazing jobs with the source material. Even if you haven't watched one episode of the show, the characters and everything just work on a dynamic and dark level. I loved it and I hope fans of the show loved it too.

Bennett's storylines are pretty deep and a lot more layered than you'd expect from a comic book like this. Also her knowledge of all the different histories and occult stuff is pretty cool when it shows up in the dialogue or the story. Obviously there's a lot of room for that in a comic book about Sleepy Hollow, but I just love the way so makes it all work. Another great thing that I already mentioned has been the dialogue. She's able to make Ichabod sound like someone from the past and still juggles the people from present day having conversations with him, that has to be tough. It's skill, pure skill.

Coelho draws some more terrific art for this last issue and it's just a pleasure to see everything work together so seemlessly. The art looks like something out of a Cartoon Network executive's nightmare mixed with the dark grittiness of the east coast setting. As "cartoony" as it is, you can tell who the human conterparts of the characters are and it adds to the dimension of the comic. The setpieces are also drawn well, with hellish landscapes and spooky forests jumping off the page in each panel.

Great send off to a pretty good series. Hope there's more.
