The Walking Dead #134

Quick read, like the last few issues, but that does not mean that it isn't dense. In this issue we get to see the full brunt of Carl's psychological state after everything he's been through (with a promise of more to come by Kirkman in the Letter Hacks). Rick is absent from this issue, but Maggie and Jesus are in 2/3 of it, in separate areas of course. We get more of the "talking zombie" stuff with an immediate road to closure...but we'll see.

Kirkman is in regular form. Dialogue for Carl and Maggie were the standouts here. We got a lot more out of Carl than we usually do in these issues, which I wasn't expected I'd thoroughly enjoy, but I did. So much in fact that I'm starting to understand why he decided to shift the story into the future. If he'd kept the same timeline, we wouldn't get to the meat of these issues until much further down the line. In Kirkman fashion though, we got a cliffhanger that makes us want issue #135 ASAP.

Black and White and Red all over...well, not so much red, but this issue made me start wondering how I'm able to discern the blood from everything else. Being as it's the same color, I found myself marveling at that genius as well. Brain matter and different colored flesh is discernable from all the other things going on in the background. That has to be something psychological within humans to pick certain things like that out among the chaos.

Another great issue, pick it up!
