The Walking Dead #133

Written by: Robert Kirkman
Art by: Charlie Adlard, Stefano Guadiano, and Cliff Rathburn

I have come to the conclusion that Kirkman should change his last name to Butter, because he's on a roll! These last few issues have been more than fantastic. Everything is so refined that you'd think he's been given this story telepathically over a dimensional wormhole. This issue we're treated with more story from a newly liberated Carl and the grizzled Rick, also Jesus enters the mix for the cliffhanger ending which is sure to keep you on your toes. The only gripe I have with this storyline is that they're stretching a huge reveal over probably 5-7 issues and I'm wondering if the payoff is going to be worth it. But I trust Kirkman more than most, so we'll see how it goes.

Speaking of our friend Robert Kirkman, his writing was great once again. There's a section in the issue that is just a splash page of a letter from a little girl, Kirkman wrote it scarily well. Don't believe me? Read it, you'll think Kirkman is a reincarnated little girl. Joking aside, the dialogue was killer and the storyline is just so rich. This guy will probably never run out of steam and that's just as scary as his channeling of prepubescent girls. Pick up this issue for that letter alone, it was an interesting dynamic, thus why I'm complimenting it so much. LETTER!

The art team is back again with their black & white somberness. I'll again say that these comics would be nothing without the lovely and stoic artwork churned out by these guys. Don't believe me? Read Kirkman's TWD novels. I hated them. You thought about the TV show Governor more than the comic Governor, which sucked you out of the story. This art team really compliments Kirkman's writing more than they get credit for. This issue is more of the same.

Pick it up, pick it up, pick it up! Great issue!
