The Empowered series is, well, kind of back! Adam Warren has premiered a new miniseries within the Empowered universe focusing on Theresa, also known as Sistah Spooky. The miniseries tackles the story of Sistah Spooky battling all of the blondes from her high school that didn’t get superpowers like she did.

The first taste of this new miniseries feels like classic Empowered but looks a little different. Carla Speed McNeil is the guest artist and her artwork for the Empowered characters and universe is quite amazing. It fits very well with the bizarre, evil, and sexy series that is Empowered.

Warrens side story of Sistah Spooky being retired and now close friends with Empowered is already full of excitement. The Infernal Service Provider is not finished with Theresa and has made for her a maze of former blonde classmates she and Empowered have to battle. The blondes are all jealous of Sistah’s powers and are ready to destroy her. Warren does a good job at catching anyone up to who Sistah Spooky and Empowered are and why they are the way they are. It really is a great introduction that just throws you in the Empowered universe without feeling lost.

The first issue of this miniseries, High School Hell, has already got me excited for the next five issues that are to follow. Any fans of Empowered comics in the past should definitely pick this one up. Any fans who are completely new to Empowered comics should also definitely pick this issue up and then go back and check out some of the amazing comics that have come out of this universe.
