Divinity II #4
written by: Matt Kindt
Art by: Trevor Hairsine
published by Valiant Comics
This is the final issue in the second Divinity mini series. Reflecting on the series as a whole I have to say it might not be quite as good as the first series, but it still was good. I feel that this one was a bit anti-climatic, but perhaps thats because it's the middle of a trilogy.  As I've said in another review this week I feel like I've spent a lot of time singing the praises of the great work that Matt Kindt has been doing at Valiant, but for me this is the weakest of those four books. We got some stuff that got me really excited, like the first appearance of Vladimir Putin in Valiant comics.....okay so that was only exciting to me. Last month we also got a really good fight scene between the two super powered Cosmonauts and this issue starts with the continuation of that fight. Basically the entire issue the fight between Myska and Abram then it ends with well them not fighting anymore. There is a resolution that really has left me feeling deflated like a Tom Brady football. It wasn't a bad issue, but the series of as a whole story feels like a single issues worth of stuff happened.
Trevor Hairsine's art is again a highlight. I love the fight scenes as the two crash through buildings, good stuff. The colours are good in the issue as well, I like that Divinity's colours are a bit different then the rest of the Valiant's line. The shrunken head Divinity was back as Myska sucks the life out of Abram, love that visual. Another thing I have to ask again, the covers depict a dark haired woman and not a blonde like the interior art, I find that weird.

The issue is well written, it's very dialogue heavy. The hero that has incredible god-like powers who spends the entire issue basically trying to talk his adversary down is a great contrast to the normal comic book trope super hero fight.
I had high hopes for this series, and while I enjoyed the story, I feel like there could have been more to it. The setting is great, the characters are great and hopefully when we get Divinity III we get more. It was good but ended a little flat for my tastes. This could all just be leading to something bigger so I will wait and see.
