Green Arrow #24

Writer: Benjamin Percy

Artist: Juan Ferreyra

Publisher: DC Comics

And thus ends The Rise of Star City, the biggest arc of the series yet. I was surprised that it ended, actually. I thought the storyline would continue into the oversized #25 in two weeks, but I was wrong. I think it may have been a mistake too. I personally think that it has something to do with DC wanting Juan Ferreyra to draw the entire arc and he couldn't because of time, or because they're actually structuring the story this way. Either way, it's slightly anticlimactic.

I was enjoying the story so far and the transformation of Seattle into Star City comes across as the only point of the whole story. Not much has happened so far, and this issue is no different. I don't know whether or not it has anything to do with the whole legacy thing that DC is pushing right now, which is for the best of course, but Percy could have written this story three or four arcs ago without all the hype.

Despite my problems with the story, Juan Ferreyra's art is stellar, yet again. The double page spreads are amazing and he packs so much into one page. There wasn't much action here but Juan made up for it with some great panel work.

I'm looking forward to where the story's going but I felt a bit sour when I finished this issue. I didn't exactly feel cheated by the ending, but I expected more. Going into it further will result in me spoiling it so I'm curious to know what people think of it.
