Futures End #12

by F.D. White on July 24, 2014

Futures End has continuously suffered from lack of real estate. With only about 5-6 pages per story, I'm always left wanting more. Sometimes they use this to their advantage with expert cliffhangers, but most of the time, I'm left feeling dissatisfied. Issue #12 is a great example of this. This is an unfortunate series to have as a weekly due to the amount of content the writers and artists are bringing to the story. This is really a story that demands to be read in large chunks. I feel like I'm doing a disservice to the people working on this book by trying to review the story piecemeal. It's like watching 10 minutes of a movie and trying to review it. It's less than episodic. It's such a small portion of the story that anything I say about it could potentially be dismissed next issue or 30 issues down the line. So what I will say in regards to this issue is that the writing is strong in some places, and weaker in others, but given the space I can't fault it too much. And the art continues to be solid. With a creepy and disturbing cliffhanger ending, I'm hard pressed to really fault this book for anything besides lack of real estate.

This is a story that'll be worth going back, when all is said and done, to read as one giant tale.
