Rat Queens #7

It seems like destiny that I was to come across Rat Queens. During a time when I was severely lacking in incredibly funny, badass, female-led books I stumbled across this gem thanks to a friend. I owe that friend a lot (but I'll never tell them!) because Rat Queens has skyrocketed to one of my favorite books, and is something I pedel to everyone I know like some kind of Rat Queens drug pusher.

This new arc that just started is an interesting change of pace for the book. Slowly, the tone of the book is changing. We're still seeing the same Rat Queens style humor, but there is a creeping sensation of dread and terror that is building throughout the past two issues. This dread culminates in the epic final pages where we see some truly messed up things occuring. I won't spoil anything, but I will say if you like H.P. Lovecraft please check this book out.

Wiebe and Upchurch are a dream team together they capture the Rat Queens as how they should be with varying, and distinct, personalities and body sizes. It's a completely refreshing and unique vibe they create for this book.

So if you love badass females, cosmic horror, side-aching laughter, or just eating a lot of candy and drinking 'til you pass out then Rat Queens is for you.
