Winter Soldier: The Bitter March #4

I’ll start by saying that my first introduction to the Winter Soldier was fairly recently with the movie that came out this year. Imagine my surprise when I found out that a Winter Soldier mini-series was going on. I had no idea going in that this would tie into Remender’s Captain America run, but I am so glad that it does. By having Ran Shen and Bucky Barnes as the main characters it only serves to strengthen the Captain America run by building up strong supporting characters and making them feel more alive.

And make them feel alive he does! Ran Shen is becoming a much more interesting villain by looking at his somewhat heroic past. Having Bucky repeat Cap’s motto that he’s been repeating all throughout the Cap run shows just how much influence Steve Rogers has on people.

Roland Boschi has a unique and sloppy style that perfectly fits the non-stop action of this mini-series. It also seems to fit the 60s vibe of the series.

This is a must-read if you’re reading Captain America, but everyone should read it because it’s just plain fun.
