Justice League #16

Like most people I haven’t really been enjoying Bryan Hitch’s Justice League, which is a shame since a lot of DC Rebirth books have really been good and have either continued or created a new strength in current series. The first arc to me was dreadful, but the fear arc and the arc before JL vs SS was alright, however I would say in the defense of this series is does seem to be getting better each arc.

With this arc it started off really strong, and I’m happy to say that it has remained strong with the second book. The previous book set up an earth shattering event as the majority of the Justice League were attacked by these strange monsters. It has been revealed further to us that they are trying to erase the powers of the Justice League.

One aspect that is really interesting is how the Justice League are all displaced in these 5 points in time at Atlantis, when Flash got his powers, Wonder Woman in Olympus with Chronos, the Green Lanterns in some dystopian future with these new types of Green Lanterns and Cyborg in the 31st Century. With this issue it was really Aquaman and the Green Lanterns side were explored and both time periods were really interesting.

In conclusion this is one of the strongest issues yet, of all of Hitch’s Justice League. This actually seems like a coincidence since a lot of DC’s books this week in my opinion were some of the best of the series. One aspect that is interesting was the secret that seemed to be kept between the 3 ‘watchers’. Hopefully this issue shows a real turn in the series.
