Superman Annual #1

Writer: Peter J. Tomasi and Patrick Gleeson
Artist: Jorge Jimenez
Colourist: Alejandro Sanchez

If you have ever read any of my reviews, you know how I like the fact of previous ideas being addressed in future issues. In this issue the blue hand that was shown in the rebirth issue was finally addressed.

I personally did think it was an interesting idea that they tackled, saying that it was due to the fact that Superman was yet to accept the current DC earth as his own earth. I didn’t mind this idea however I didn’t really like the fact that Superman was fighting against Swamp Thing in a battle, that could really have been just a conversation. Which is out of character for both characters, as I would say that both of the characters are both level-headed characters, however you could chalk it up to the fact that Superman may still have thought Swamp Thing was still infected.

Jimenez’s art as usual looks amazing, and his Swamp Thing looked really good, especially with the addition of the flowers to just add more detail, and the colouring of Sanchez looked really cool, especially when he was infected.

In conclusion this annual is good enough that it to tide you over, until next week for the other rebirth issues. It is also pretty enjoyable, and has a great family moment at the end, which makes me remember why I’m loving this current Superman run.
