Green Lanterns #10

After last issues great kick off to this new arc, we get an issue that is doing more set-up for the eventual meeting between the Green Lanterns and the Phantom Lantern, and to be honest with you this issue is just alright.

We are treated to more or less of the same, as Jessica deals with her fear and the relationship between Jessica and Simon. A relationship that started off interesting, but is ultimately getting stale.

The art continues to be fantastic and the colouring used in the book is used really effectively, especially to show the different lantern colours.

Here are a few positives. Even though the Jessica in fear is something that has really been overused, this issue does actually show Jessica is understanding more and more, what it means to be a Green Lantern. Also we are finally shown what the phantom ring can do, and let me tell you this, it is awesome, and I am excited to see how it will be used in the next few issues.

In conclusion, this issue is really more of a set-up issue, much needed and presented in an interesting way, but nothing we haven’t seen before, regarding Jessica and Simon (except Simon’s relationship with his brother-in-law). However, it does get me really excited for how Simon and Jessica, will face off against the Phantom Lantern, and what Volthoom is planning on next.
