Batman #66

Colorist: Dave Stewart
Publisher: DC Comics

This is the first issue that continues the kinghtmares arc after ‘the price’ and so far, I have really been enjoying the knightmares arc as it does delve deeper into the character of Batman and what makes him tick and why he does what he does.

This issue starts with Tom King debating where Batman and Catwoman first met. This was a cool idea to use a couple of times but seems to be repeated every 10 issues so far, and just feels that it is pointless and a stale idea.

As for the rest of issue I feel that Tom King really gets to the crux of why Batman is a great character. He is defined by the vow that he made to stop crime. Whilst he is just a normal man, his determination and willpower is what allows him to continue fighting and keep up with other heroes such as Superman and Wonder Woman.

Tom King’s use of the question was also a really cool idea since he is basically a conspiracy theorist, and allows the last page reveal to feel earned. Since he is a conspiracy theorist he wouldn’t accept any other answer than the one that he originally thought of. Overall I really enjoyed this issue and hope that the rest of the series continues to be great like this one.
