Batman #37

Writer: Tom King
Artist: Clay Mann
Colorist: Jordie Bellaire
Publisher: DC Comics

This was a really fun issue. As I said last issue I feel King’s strength is his relationships. The characters perfectly complement and bounce off one another. The way this issue even starts as they have to switch clothes, since they are going to a fair where it is superhero night and if they dressed in their usual costumes it would be too obvious, that it was actually them.

In the last issue, it was a lot more focused on the individual couples, but ultimately focused on Batman and Superman’s relationship. With this issue, it instead focuses on the relationship between Lois and Clark and Selina and Bruce. They are different but they have the underlying idea that they complement one another.

This issue kind of talks to those that don’t really like the marriage. It addresses the idea of trying to keep Batman young forever, so that he can always be Batman. It addresses that even though it seems like Catwoman is the antithesis of everything Batman stands for there is still that fundamental idea of trust.

I really enjoyed this arc and am excited for the future of their relationship. I have my fingers crossed hoping that they actually get married and it isn’t a continuous engagement.
