Injustice Year Three #7

by Amit J. on January 15, 2015

The third year of DC's acclaimed 'Injustice' has lived quite up to the mark so far. The action packed series has delivered some of the most thrilling 'versus' battles among some of the most popular DC superheroes and this time the stakes are even higher since 'magic' is being added to the story. There's been a number of stories in the DC universe that dealt with Superman going nuts, and Injustice being one of the longest and most consistent run among them is clearly in the favorite list.

The very first issue of Year Three starts with John Constantine and he's been in the spotlight thus far. Before the third year started I was a bit worried about how it actually goes. But Tom Taylor, just like the first two years, never disappointed me. There's a lot going on right now. Just take the convo between Superman and The Spectre from this week's issue.

I mean, how badass is that! Superman KNOWS that he's force feeding the whole 'global peace' thing, and he's completely okay with that. Doing something bad due to one's stance towards a certain situation is one thing. But when someone thinks that he's doing evil for a greater good, that is when you get scared. We also see more of Raven in this issue. Constantine's plan has worked, at least for now. But with The Spectre on Superman's side along with Sinestro's 100% success rate with his evil plans, Batman, Constantine and the others are sure to have a tough time ahead.

The art has also been tremendous throughout the whole series. I love what Tom Taylor has been doing with Constantine so far, his duo with Batman flows perfectly with the story. In fact, it feels good to see the focus being shifted just a bit from Batman. Unless Superman or someone from his side does something extra crazy again, it seems Constantine is going to play a huge role in the upcoming issues. Issue #9 was a great fit in this year's "magical" story. Tom Taylor, in my opinion has been one of the most consistent writers and Injustice has definitely been among DC's one of the best ongoing series. If BvS meets WB's expectations along with the other movies from their slate, I think this story totally has the potential to get a live action movie of its own, or maybe a trilogy.
